Huntsville, Utah

Huntsville, UT is located in the southern part of The Ogden Valley approximately 45 miles northeast of Salt Lake City and 11 miles east of Ogden City, through Ogden Canyon on the east side of the Wasatch Mountains. This quaint, historic town sits on a peninsula on Pineview Reservoir. Founded by Jefferson Hunt in 1860, the town was incorporated in 1924, one of three towns in the Ogden Valley to be incorporated. The elevation is just under 5000 ft. and the area experiences four distinct seasons. Snowfall in town is considerably less than other parts of the Valley.

Subdivisions include Ski Lake, Summit at Ski Lake, The Chalets at Ski Lake, The Legends at Hawkins Creek, Trapper’s Crossing, Basinview, Valley Lake Estates, Huntsville Meadows, Falcon Crest, Monastery Cove, Green Hills Country Estates, South Fork Ranchettes, Silver Summit, Heritage Knoll, and The Sanctuary Ranch. Lakeside Village Condominiums, the closest accommodations to Snowbasin on the Weber Co. side and the new, “The Escapes at Edgewater” by Jack Fisher Homes, luxury townhomes, are both located adjacent to each other on the south shore of Pineview Reservoir.

 


 

The event schedule in Huntsville and the Ogden Valley seems to grow yearly. Here are some of this summer’s events:

 

Snowbasin:

Reopens for the summer season on Saturday, June 11, 2016. Live outdoor music on the Plaza every Saturday and Sunday. Hiking, mountain biking, disc golf, ride the lift to the top of Needles, and dining discovery.

 

Huntsville 4th of July Festivities:

Breakfast, 5k,|10k race, Parade, Fireworks.

 

An annual multiday road cycling race

the Tour of Utah Stage 6, is scheduled for August 6, 2016 from Snowbasin to Snowbird Resort.

 

The Huntsville Marathon

is now a qualifier for the Boston Marathon will be held September 17, 2016. One of the most beautiful marathons that Utah has to offer, the course starts in the Monte Cristo area and ends at Huntsville Town Park, coinciding with fantastic autumn colors. This course consists of a gentle decline in elevation of 3,500 feet from start to finish.  

 

The XTERRA Pan America Championship

off-road triathlon and the XTERRA Trail Run National Championship are being held on back-to-back days, and in the same destination, September 17-18, 2016. The two events will bring roughly 1,500 of the nation’s very best amateur and professional triathletes and trail runners to Snowbasin Resort to battle for the title of XTERRA Champion. The XTERRA Pan America Championship off-road triathlon includes a 1.5k swim / 28k mountain bike / 10k trail run.

 

Snowbasin Summer Activities: 

Kick off summer right with a soirèe on the patio of Earl's Lodge. Come taste a selection of all the delectable food items the culinary team will be preparing this year. This will be a social event not-to-be-missed with food stations adorning the patio of Earl's lodge along with full bar and live music!
